Sunday Book Review: Merle's kitchen

I have had this book for a while. While I must confess that I haven't made a thing from it, my mum Helen has. Luckily I have photographed some of the things she has made.
Merle is the cool Nanna who was on Masterchef last year. She made the Peach Blossom cake that was used in one of the Tuesday night thingios when a contestant gets to cook against a chef making the chef's recipe. This book has the recipe for the Peach Blossom Cake. I notice it is one of the recipes mum has bookmarked.
In this book there are lots of yummy recipes that you would expect to find at either a country show or a CWA bake off. Things like choc chip cookies, date slice, patty cakes, lamingtons, vanilla slice and chocolate layer cake. Some of the recipes mum has made are the date slice, forcer biscuits, the choc chip cookies and the fruit mince biscuits. Mum has also been using the choc chip cookie recipe and changing the flavourings by adding cranberries, peanuts, white chocolate and dates. All rather yum variations in my opinion. The photography and styling in this book look great and the recipes are easy to follow.

Would make a great Mother's Day present with a the addition of something from the book made to go with it.
